The satellite Internet service firm, Datzap, is threatening the government licensing agency Sutel with action under the terms of the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA).
Datzap claims that Sutel has been dragging its feet for more than a year in assigning frequencies to operate here. The company warned that it is considering filing a formal complaint with the U.S. Commerce Dept., alleging violation of the trade pact.
Nor is Datzap the only company losing its patience. Twelve other companies have filed for concessions to transmit, by satellite radio waves, Internet broadband, subscription TV, GPS geolocation and mobile communication.
